    Usually this Japanese maple turns from green to yellow and then drops all its leaves. This year it decided to do a completely different change, with this dazzling spray of orange across part of the top of the shrub. Go figure.

    So gorgeous! I wonder if all this fog has been influencing the colors somehow–I do see more red on a variety of maples this year.

    Yes…I was thinking the same thing. Also seems like maybe a little less wind and rain while the color is on the trees…so the color is on the trees a little longer than usual. Yum.
