This poem resonated for a number of reasons. Memories of not having my own clothes when I was growing up. (Had to “borrow” them from Mom.) Mom trying to “dress me” before my sister’s funeral. (I was 56 years old at the time, and whatever I crammed into my carry-on at a moment’s notice wasn’t fashionable enough for her.) The list goes on. Shame is a familiar place — not so sure about “trusted” — but then, children live what they learn. Compelling. Thank you. (And “hi” again!)
